History

Metropolitan Family Health Network became Hudson County’s newest Federally Qualified Health Center in Fall of 2006, thanks to the assistance of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services and the New Jersey Department of Health & Senior Services. At that time there were two sites — the headquarters clinic at 935 Garfield Avenue in Jersey City, NJ and the clinic at 5300 Bergenline Avenue in West New York, NJ.

In 2010, Metropolitan Family Health Network earned gold-seal accreditation from The Joint Commission, an independent organization that accredits and certifies healthcare organizations in the U.S. The Joint Commission’s gold seal is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to meeting certain performance standards and ensuring that people experience the safest, highest quality, best-value health care.

In 2010, MFHN also formulated plans to build-out and open a four-operatory Dental Suite which opened to patients in early 2012.

Metropolitan Family Health Network remains dedicated to its mission of making high-quality, affordable, primary-care services and programs accessible to the people of Hudson County — especially those who are unserved, uninsured, under-insured and homeless — regardless of their ability to pay. Since our official opening in 2006, the number of men, women and children we serve has increased from 12,114 patient visits per year to more than 56,000.
